Barn Building Day #7

Another big truck arrives, this time full of the metal roofing and siding. Things are truly hopping!
These last two pictures show the color of the metal siding and the package containing the two "man" doors. Everything is looking good!

Barn Building Day #6

For reasons I no longer remember, the crew was unable to return until the following week. Nearly the end of September, the work continues.
Now it is possible to see where the two large RV doors in the front, the "man" door also in the front, and the two smaller garage doors for autos along with one additional "man" door on the west side of the barn will be placed. It's coming together!
The rolls of blue packaging is the insulation, ready to be installed.

Barn Building Day #5

By the end of the day, the barn is really beginning to take shape. Bob can hardly contain himself!
In the meantime, I have acquired more bulbs to plant and the bench, chairs & table I ordered have arrived. I'm ready for another busy weekend!

Barn Building Day #4

Today the rafters and ceiling will come into shape.
As you can see, the edge of the slab on what will eventually be a concrete floor has also been placed. Now you can see the sides and ceiling rafters being built.
We're having so much fun watching this go up & can hardly wait until tomorrow!

Barn Building Day #3

This Monday morning, the crew wastes no time in getting the trusses raised by hand, one by one, onto what will become the roof of the barn.
The third pictures shows the hand pulley being attached to the side post.
It is absolutely fascinating to watch how fast these trusses are raised.
By the end of the day, all joists are hoisted and secured into position.

Barn Building Day #2

The trusses arrive on day 2, and we are excited.
Prior to the day's end, the trusses are placed in the lowered position for hoisting on the following work day. Our barn is beginning to take shape.
With no crew around for the weekend, I decid to work on some landscaping. I bought a few bulbs to plant, pictured below.
Wish me "happy blubing!"

Barn Building Day #1

Finally, we get some action and the crew comes out to build our barn. First the holes are dug, then the poles are set, and finally they are filled with concrete. The picture of the truck shows how materials were delivered to our site.
These pictures show the size of the holes, each 5 - 6 feet deep, how the poles are placed into the holes, and finally the size of the auger used to dig each hole.
The following photos show how each pole was placed into the holes.
These last pictures show the concrete being poured into each hole. It was an all day project, but much got done!
