Dropping a moose - not!

From VFW Moose Dropping Event
For many years, the Moose Dropping Festival was a way of life in Talkeetna. A few years back, it got a little too rowdy, so now it has been incorporated in the part of the 4th of July celebration.

The last couple of days, the local VFW chapter has been selling tickets at $5 each for a numbered moose dropping.

A charitable event, I proudly display my moose dropping number 551. And yes, almost every year someone from animal welfare organizations call to find out about the moose dropping. These well intentioned city slickers don't realize that a moose dropping is moose poop!

Now it's minutes before 2:00 PM when the moose dropping takes place, and Bob strikes a pose with the lucky lady who gets to pull the rope to release the droppings.

Here you can see the bulls eye painted on the ground and the polls and wire suspended waiting for the big event to culminate.

Visitors from Salt Lake City UT take in the events, and of course Bob wants his picture taken with the pretty volley ball player.

The air is filled with tension as the crowd waits with held breath for the rope to be pulled and the droppings to fall. What is taking so long?

A reluctant rope finally opens and the droppings fall but to the left of the bulls eye!

Not to worry, the 10 closest droppings win big prizes, ranging from $100 to $350 with the one the farthest away also receiving a $150 prize. Judges carefully measure the results. No mistakes can be made!
