Bismarck/Menoken, ND

From Bismarck, ND

Although we stopped for 1 night in Menoken, about 8 miles east of Bismarck, we drove into Bismarck to have a bite to eat along the Missouri River, at a place called Meriwether’s, after the Lewis & Clark team.

If the food is mediocre, the view of the river, party boat, and bridge is easy on the eyes, and certainly worth the price of the food. Under these conditions, we refer to it as “paying our rent.”

Keelboat Park is just a few feet away, and shares the same parking lot as the restaurant. Most people were waiting for the evening sailing at 8:30 PM. We were about the only people actually in the restaurant.

I laughed as the ad in the local paper referred to the “elegant dining in a casual atmosphere.” When I called to inquire, the hostess laughed when I asked if T-shirts and jeans were allowed. What else do tourists wear?

We enjoyed the river, watching the sun go down, taking in the sculptures, and light, and finally at sunset, when we had returned to the coach, I had Bob run out and take this one picture of the sunset with I-94 in the background.

Next morning we're off to Minnesota!
