Acadia National Park & Cadillac Mountain

From Acadia National Park & Cadillac Mountain

This is the view out our front window at Narrows Too. Pretty nice, wouldn't you agree?

Yesterday a ranger told us the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse would be open today, so we decide to make the lighthouse our first stop of the day. This is the view at Southwest Harbor.

Shortly thereafter, we arrive at the lighthouse. While not exactly what I would call "open," we were able to walk down and take pictures on this beautiful day.

Now driving west towards Cadillac Mountain, we come to this natural seawall, on Seawall Road, just west of Wonderland, and within the park boundary on the west side of the park.

Now we're back on the east side of the island, going up the road to the summit of Cadillac Mountain. While driving, the fog comes in, providing some stunning views.

One of the rangers up at the summit tells Bob that usually you see either clouds or a very clear sky. Views of fog rolling in are a rare treat. How fortunate we are!

It's hard to drag ourselves away as the light is playing in and our of the clouds keeping me at the shutter of the camera.

Notice the light reflecting on the water in front of this ship. Apparently the sunlight is hitting the windows in such a way as to cause a prism effect, which makes for a very unusual light display.

Coming back down the mountain, the light changes yet again, providing for different views, a nice bonus for our return drive.

Heading out of the park, we come to this marvelous tunnel. I love the fact that the tunnels are not only for cars, but for horses, carriages, and people as well.

Tomorrow we will take a break from Maine, and take the Cat over to Nova Scotia. We can hardly wait!

Acadia National Park is my favorite place in Maine. I did three posts a while back about it.
