Bridgewater, Hebron and Newfound Lake, NH

From Newfound Lake, Bridgewater, & Hebron, NH

We decide we know better than Lola, our GPS, so our drive into Bridgewater is a little more exciting than if we had followed Lola in the first place. No matter, the streets are narrow and the grades a little steep, but very short. It is a beautiful drive, and soon we are settled into the campground on lovely Newfound Lake.

Everyone says to be sure to dine at The Big Catch, right on the shore of Newfound Lake. As you can see by the cars, it is, indeed, a very popular place, and tomorrow is the last day they are open for the season. We find the food second to the views of the lake, but enjoy ourselves and are glad we had the experience.

As you can see, the best part is the drive around the lake. It is an idyllic September afternoon, and most of the crowds have left to return to school and work.

Driving around the northwest side of the lake, we come to this little town of Hebron. So typically New England, I get out of the car and take these few pictures.

The little park in the center of the town, has a lovely gazebo with a plaque commemorating soldiers from Hebron who served in WWI, WWII, and the Korean War.

The final picture is the town hall meeting place. Tomorrow we plan to explore farther north.

I live in Maine and never heard of Newfound Lake; I'll have to check it out when we get back.
