This turns out to be a picture perfect day for a drive around the park. These first photos are of our drive out to
Schoodic Point, a part of Acadia National Park northeast of Mount Desert Island.
Driving past Birch Harbor, soon we arrive at
Schoodic Point. Once owed by John G. Moore, a Maine native and Wall Street financier, his heirs donated the property to Hancock County. Ultimately it became part of the National Park Service, and today the
Schoodic Education and Research Center utilizes the facilities which once belonged to the U.S. Navy. As you can see, it's a complicated story. What is uncomplicated, are the spectacular views - enjoy!
As part of a 2007 Symposium, there are many sculptures on exhibit. We only got a picture of one, but it has become a land of many uses.
Now we're headed back towards
Corea. Notice the tides!
Corea, east of Birch Harbor, is a charming little fishing village located on a peninsula, and located so near Nova
Scotia, the tides are quite dramatic.
We wish we knew the story about this woodpecker, Bob's nemesis. Whatever, he was colorful and a surprise to find.
Our day almost finished, we are so pleased to have come across this village, and our visit is complete with a visit from a rainbow.
